This is a rather polemical (non PDF standard) feature and this discussion is
causing friction between users and developers.
So my suggestion is a simple dialog box on the first time one uses Okular's
annotations that warns the user that the annotations are not PDF standard but
rather an Okular only feature, and a check box so the warning never shows up
again.
I don't know how to implement it, but it seems a simple "fix" to keep everyone
happy while PDF standard annotations are not implemented.
And yes, no annotations are worse than having them, but the user should know
that they are not PDF standard if one is trying to annotate a PDF, is somewhat
misleading.
On the other hand, users should take it easy on developers and try to focus on
how to fix things rather than complain about it without bringing more
confusion.
Another suggestion is to try to enforce this feature to enter initiatives like
Google Summer of Code (I bet you're trying to do this already), etc., as this
must be one of the most wanted (if not the most wanted) feature in Okular for
what I've been seeing. Or am I wrong?
