You don't expect people to read a manual to use a PDF reader, do you?
Especially if it seems straightforward enough to use.

Generally it's a good idea to warn before doing something destructive; why not
apply the same principle to a case where the user is likely to waste hours of
their time? You do see that the feature is not very useful currently, don't
you, and that it's very misleading?
