As i said already in this bug
"If you think the patch is correct and are prepared to take the blame i
don't see why you should not commit it", but at least you should fix the FIXMEs
in your code. You are also breaking BC of the okular core library which is
something we do not like.

Also did you try as I asked PDF files where different pages have different
orientations?
