I can't reproduce the crash you mentioned with KDS SC 4.5.3. 
- Can you confirm that you are using KDE SC 4.2.2 ? If that is correct, please
consider upgrading to KDE SC 4.4.x at least (because 4.2.2 is really old by
now)
