I happen to encounter the same (or similar) issue with this complex PDF map.
Zoom in a lot, and the screen gets blank (default settings, except "agressive"
behaviour, KDE 4.4.1, Archlinux).

For instance, try to zoom in into the mini map at the bottom of the screen.
(required to make it readable)
