As commented in IRC we won't accept this patch. If you want to work in this 
area, as said, we'd be interested in a patch for sticky buttons in which:
 * Single click - Has the current behaviour
 * Double click - Keeps the tool selected until deselected so you can do N 
annotations of the same type without having to reselect the tool.
