Here some news from my side:
Pino didn't respond on my mail nor does he seem to worry about this bug. I've
contacted Qt Software and asked for help. Some minutes ago I got following
mail:
The API we added for this is:

int QPrinter::actualNumCopies() const;

which returns the number you actually set on the printer object.
The change has been pushed to 4.6.

If Pino won't interrupt his hibernation I hope somebody else in the KDE
community care about this fix.

@Pino: This is not a personal attack but the fact that you don't care about
cooperative bug reporters (and about software you're in charge for) is weird.
