Sorry, I don't completely understand what's the problem you get.
If I stop holding down the Down arrow key, it immediately stops here. 
Although... the DVI backend has no support for generation of pages in 
background, so the intrface is blocked while a DVI page pixmap is being 
generated; is it that?
