Well, I musst correct some statement from above comment (#7):

printing from okular kindof works on my kyocera, but the result is not ok: you
can see only a small part of the page (~ 10x5cm) centered in the middle of the
output which is scaled down a lot.

And printing the same document with acroread looks 100% ok! so it cannot be
cups that does not work...

anything else I can test?
