Please please please, don't mix various errors in the same bug report,
otherwise they cannot be tacked correctly (and an headache for me is ensured).
The hanging of comment #3 has just been fixed, will be in KDE 4.2.1.
Also for the original report, suggestion is to wait for KDE 4.2.1 as well and
try again with it once it is out.
