May be some additional use case information clarifies this issue:

Lets say I read a PDF book on page 340 and I'm viewing the thumbnail preview
already in a pretty large size e.g. showing the table of contents (on page 5)
of that book. Now I realize that some text in the thumbnail preview is too
small to read so I resize the thumbnail to be able to read that text -> the
focus of the thumbnail preview jumps back to page 340 and I have to scroll back
to page 5.

I realize that scrolling further in the document changes the page previewed
back to the page viewed in the main view, too. May be as a sort of RFE, it
would be nice to make the thumbnail preview "sticky" so it doesn't scroll along
with your scrolling in the main view.
