Obviously merging the modes will need an UI refinement. For a good example how
a functional, feature rich and STILL out of the way fullscreen gui can be
implemented please have a look at the free FastStone image viewer which can be
downloaded at http://www.faststone.org. It is a windows application but does
run very well under wine.
