Believe, its already annoying for 1280x800 on a 13 inch screen. It can decide whether, if you want view an entire page at once, you are at a zoom-factor where the letters are still readable or not.
Otherwise one could likewise ask "why would anyone want to hide the menubar/ scrollbars / toolbar etc". Or "why do we need a fullscreen mode at all, if the screens have enough space anyway ...
