I think annotaions are useless if you cannot exchange them with a adobe-reader-user. Isn't pdf a format with an open specification?

Also, I (and I think most other users, who don't read the manual or something else where this is documented) expect annotatations to be embedded in the pdf. This was a really bad surprise..
