I see why it's good to have the page number always visible by default, but currently it really takes an enormous amount of precious space for just a couple of numbers. Especially in full-page mode on medium-resolution screens, the loss of vertical space makes a big difference in text legibility.

There's so much empty space in the toolbar just begging to carry this information... Please reconsider.
