Respected Sir,
Below is the brief about the proposal that I want to contribute towards the
development of the iso image writer project under the Season of Kde program.

*Goal*: *Enhancing the autonomacity and making the application more geared
towards newcomers*

The current state of the iso image writer application is great in itself
but i would like to point out the fact that many newcomers are taken back
by the decision first downloading the unknown (at that time the least)
format file (.iso) and that too when its of notable size, this leads all
the more reason for them to reconsider while file to select to download and
thereby sending them directly to `spiral of distrohell`, so i think that
enabling the feature of automatically downloading the required iso file in
the background could make this step even easier and more geared towards the
newcomers.
My inspiration is taken from the FOSS Rufus, IMHO its a great software but
being limited to windows and its interface might make the users feel
overloaded with options and even more dangerous when the options are
formatting and doing changes on the drive.
KDE's image writer shines in this department offering a very sleek and
simple interface with just the right amount of options to make the work
done, but as stated earlier i think that it might be too simple even for a
minimal user, making them look for other alternatives like rufus and etcher
etc. (with all due respect to all developers).

The following are some of the thoughts I have about this idea of mine:
1. Offering the auto downloading of the latest version of the linux distro
of their choice (like kubuntu, linux mint, arch-linux etc.)
2. Selection (auto) of the best and fastest mirror, reducing download times.

Some additional thoughts for the project:
- I think that incorporating this image writer with the new upcoming kde
flagship distro could make it even more valuable.
- enabling the selection of which version of kde gear the user wants to
choose while downloading the iso itself can drastically reduce the time
required to download and upgrade/downgrade.

It would be my pleasure if someone could guide me towards accomplishment of
these goals and provide valuable feedback on these ideas.

I am also currently actively looking for a mentor for my proposal
submission in the SoK.
Highly grateful if someone could mentor me.
