Multimedia status

Looking at mailing list archives I see that some attempts have been made 
to sort out ffmpeg issue multimedia package is suffering from.  I wonder 
what is the current status.

Is there anyone actively working on it?   Is the list of outstanding 
issues available somewhere?
Personally I'm only interested in sound for the time being.   Getting 
QAudioOutput working would already be a good start.  If I were to take a 
look at it, what is the recommended starting point?

Another question: is ministro now using 4.8.0 final?
