ministro cleanup patches

Hi Bogdan,
I comitted and pushed a bunch of cleanup changes that I did in June into
the 'rschuster-cleanup' branch of the ministro repository. I'd ask you
to have a look at them and tell me whether you'll accept those changes.

I'll add Christian's i18n support patches on top of them ASAP.
