I mostly agree with Dennis: I'd like to see a way to "toggle" between both modes with the balloon being the default.
I almost missed the white line though: I think it should rather be an arrow - and we need to find a solution that better "integrates" visually with the dock widget. currently both elements - the white line and the dockwidget don't look related.
