Hi Konrad,

I guess you already know about:

http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Marble/CustomMaps

and about our restricted maps repository as described in Dennis' most recent 
blog entry where more advanced dgml features are used.

So if those features are not covered yet then it's probably better to extend 
the dgml storageLayout tag accordingly for support of "leading zeros" and 
"Level Zero properties" (where "Level Zero" refers to the starting image - 
which in Marble right now is the full worldmap) . I think that would be easier 
and probably better than starting from scratch with TextureLayer (and might 
even result in a few generic patches for the MarbleProject if possible? ;)
