Agreed.  But the Arrow PositionMarker should never disappear completely,
should it?

Also, If I can provide direction information, how do I do that?  My GPS is
also equipped with a compass that gives me a heading.  I'd love to be able
to use that.

This is common for GSP devices, they can not know the direction precisely
when 
not moving, unless paired with a compass. Some software ignore the direction

indication if the speed is below some treshold, i think i recently saw 0.2
m/s 
used in a plasmoid.
