Hi,

I created a new Windows setup with the current version of marble in the
SVN using the method outlined in my previous post. I would appreciate it
if you could give it a spin and report any errors or problems you might
have with it:

http://www.multimedial.de/share/KDE/Setup.exe (v0.9.2, it is 20 Mb in
size, will be up in 5 minutes)

There are two new DLLs which need to be added to the package, btw. One
being phonon4.dll (what for? yet it complains about it missing if it is
not there), as well as QtXMLPatterns4.dll.

My experimental version was built using optimized version of the JPEG
Dll, as well as optimization switches when compiling the marble project
itself. I get the impression as if it is a bit faster than the normal
build of Marble 0.8.0 on Windows?

Switches used for the build were:
-DCMAKE_CXX_FLAGS="/Ox /GL /arch:SSE2 /MP"

which means:
/Ox = full optimizations
/GL = program optimization at link time (?)
/arch:SSE2 = use of SSE2 commands if available (does that make any sense?)
/MP = multiprocessor compiling (for using multiple cores when compiling
the source - should be faster if you got a multicore C
It does contain a new map ("NaturalEarth"), as well as some new plugins
for loading new image formats (gif, tif, mng (=png?)), all of them
optimized for speed.

Again, this is no official build, just my experiments. I would like to
support the Marble project with regurlar Windows builds in the future,
though, if possible.

Have fun,

Christophe Leske
