Do you mean just an icon positioned at a coordinate  or a file _mapped_ onto 
the surface? I guess the latter ...

I'd like to see that happen. And it should be possible to implement with the 
current Marble stuff in place. However the implementation would take some 
time and it's currently not so high on the TODO.
