Depends on how often you want to change the configuration or how many
different configurations you want to use: From my understanding of
contraction hierarchies, the configuration (~desired speed on road type
= edge weights) heavily influences the resulting contracted road graph.
Therefore the graph needs to be reconstructed if you want to change one
or more configuration parameters. Given that this takes a couple of
minutes to hours for larger maps, this can't be done dynamically.
As a workaround one could create several versions of the graph, one for
each configuration to use. It has to be paid with additional
preprocessing time and disk space, of course.
Don't count too much on my word here though, I'm not an expert on the
topic :-)
