Summary: Easier access to data credits / terms of use
           Product: marble
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Unlisted Binaries
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: data
        AssignedTo: marble-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: earthwings at gentoo.org

Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

<Earthwings> we might make it easier for users to see the data used
<Earthwings> e.g. having a "Legal" link on the bottom of the page, and present
the data currently involved dynamically
<tackat> Earthwings: Yes I agree
<tackat> yep
<tackat> so e.g. if you browse the OpenStreetMap map you'd have a Terms of Use
link somewhere visible in the map which leads to a page that lists "Street map:
(c) OSM CC-By-SA, Vector Data: NaturalEarthData, Public Domain, Placemarks:
Geonames.org, CC-By-SA
<tackat> so e.g. if you browse the OpenStreetMap map you'd have a Terms of Use
link somewhere visible next to the map which leads to a page that lists "Street
map: (c) OSM CC-By-SA, Vector Data: NaturalEarthData, Public Domain,
Placemarks: Geonames.org, CC-By-SA
<Earthwings> yes, and also routing and search and other dynamic layers
<tackat> (in case OSM, VectorData and placemarks are displayed)
<tackat> Earthwings: yes
<Earthwings> i wonder how to implement such a thing in a clever way
<tackat> Earthwings: well, we need a special property for
<tackat> dgml
<tackat> plugins
<Earthwings> yes, and decide when they are active and when not
<tackat> "static" content
<tackat> yep
<Earthwings> e.g. for render plugins when they are enabled and visible
<tackat> checking the presence for the plugins and dgml should be easy
<tackat> yep
<Earthwings> for runners when they are used
<tackat> exactly
<tackat> only problem would be some corner cases
<tackat> (like star data if the stars are not visible due to zoom level
<tackat> But those are public domain anyways, so it's less important
<Earthwings> yes, though imho in that case it doesn't hurt to include it
<tackat> (same for the vector data which is compiled in by default.
<tackat> Earthwings: we need to display the same information whenever the user
triggers the copy action and the print action.
<Earthwings> if we do that properly we can also create the data section in the
about dialog fully automatic
<tackat> Earthwings: that would be perfect
<tackat> Earthwings: there should also be a short and long credits form
<tackat> Earthwings: so that the user can decide on copying or printing to
include it with the screenshot / printout
<tackat> Earthwings: e.g.
<Earthwings> tackat: shall i paste our conversation here into a new bug report?
<tackat> Earthwings: perfect
<tackat> Earthwings: e.g.:
<tackat> Long version: Street maps: OpenStreetMap project, License: Creative
Commons by Shared Attribution 2.5
<tackat> short version: OSM, CC-by-SA
<tackat> both including a link to the full license and a link to the project
page.
<tackat> (which of course would stop working on the printout ;)
<tackat> Earthwings: That's the thoughts I have on that topic

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
stupid bug wizard, go out of the way.
