Summary: [Wish] DEM ingestion and processing
           Product: marble
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Unlisted Binaries
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: data
        AssignedTo: marble-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: a.lucas at geolnet.net

Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

Marble is cool thing, but could be a useful for scientist if :

DEM : Digital Elevation Model could be imported into database (by the user)
and some piece of analysis tools could be available for some studies. I am
thinking about draping data onto this DEM (useful for geology or geophysics).
Have a profile tool (user can draw a path onto data and then get the elevation
profile, and why not the slope profile...

Anyways, I see a lot of implications if marble could offer that. Because it
will open doors of GIS (Geographical Information System). Adding some
measurement tools (like, length, area, perimeters...) could be extremely useful
and will makes Marble a lot more that a globe viewer (which is fancy but not
more).

Thank you for your consideration.

Reproducible: Didn't try
