Kate view non-printable space not working

Hello, I'm on NixOS unstable, KDE 6.1.3, Wayland only. Kate version 24.05.2. My issue is that "Show non-printable Spaces" option seems to be faulty. It doesn't stay checked when I restart Kate. Even when it does show it is checked, non-printable is not working. Known bug for now?
