Hello. Firstly excuse me if the correct area to say about bugs not is using email. Simply the Kate appimage not run in Ubuntu 20.04.5 64 bits. Others appimages files run correctly so not is an problem in appimage in OS. Only reporting that issue. Have an nice day.
