Search&Replace: hide results-tab when adding a new search ?

That makes sense... If you open the search with the new tab shortcut it 
actually does that.

Yep, I don't use the tabs so I have not noticed this issue before. The only 
drawback is that the tab widget is part of the results right now. It would be 
possible to add a tab bar at the top of the search and sync that one with the 
tab-widget in the results.
