opening kate from command line

Hello all,

When I try to run kate from command line in ubuntu 16.04, I get the
following error:

kate: symbol lookup error: kate: undefined symbol:
_ZNK15QGuiApplication17isSessionRestoredEv


Please let me know if you're aware of what's causing this. Also, please CC
me in your response.
