[Kwintv] kdetv crashes my x server

I have the same problem, with
kernel 2.6.15, KDE 3.5.3 Xorg 6.9.0 and Ati drivers (tried 8.23.7 and 
8.26.18)

It also crashes with other tv players (eg. xawtv).
It does not crash with the open source 'radeon' driver.

So that's definitely a driver problem, but I don't know the solution.
