What's the exact problem with that? If it's not already working like that then 
I can make kdelirc first search for "appname-NUMBERS" and next for an exact 
appname match (or the other way round), no?

I'll now go and see if I can find a dcop expert on irc, maybe there's some 
sane solution to all the instance problems caused in dcop. I really do not 
like things like relying on dcop names like "kdetv-PID".

Btw, I think I will leave kdetv "as is" and probably add the above logic 
together with a "only start if not already running" checkbox to kdelirc. That 
would also make it work for other apps and not only kdetv :)
