Moin,
I just got a Hauppauge WinTV PC-FM yesterday, installed kdetv from HEAD and it
worked immediately (btw, that channel search at first start rocks). Due to my
xinerama setup (nvidia drivers) I had to fiddle a bit with the different
video-output methods and found the XVideo one to work best here (no flicker,
works on both displays, does clipping correctly).
Due to some annoying bits I wrote a patch which does the following:
- Makes kdetv use KUniqueApplication and by default allow only one instance,
running a second doesn't make sense for me and you can still allow it by
changing the desktop file, also adjusted
- do not subtract desktop geometry from xy-pos for v4l, AFAICS mapToGlobal
already returns right coords, this one broke display on my right screen, it
always showed the overlay on my left screen as soon as I moved the window
onto the right screen
- disable some kdDebug() flooding my debug file, please think about adding a
debugarea for kdetv, if wanted I can do a patch for that
- disable the so called "work around xv driver bug" in KdetvXv which always
mutes audio while resizing the window. Everything works fine without that
hack, what was this workaround for anyway?
There's another little buglet when you exit kdetv while in tvmode, it shows
the main window (with no contents) before actually exiting. I didn't look
into this yet but may do so later.
Another thing is this desktop mode I saw in some places of the code. Is it
working already and if yes, how to get a gui-element for it? :)
Overall I'm really impressed how easy it was to set up a tv-card in linux, all
I did was install the card, compile kdetv and watch tv (and later find out
whtat VBI is for *g*) :D
