This is definitely OT I know, but I suspect you might be able to help.

Where can I get a design for a student-type project featuring 4 IC's ?
It needs to be idiot proof, with clear instructions for prototyping,
assembly and testing.  The application doesn't matter.

(I have to teach such a course and my electronics knowledge is only
very average.)
