Issues with kstars on MacBook

Hi I recently needed to upgrade to the latest version of Kstars Ekos on my MacBook as I purchased the ML SAL33 mount.
Since updating to the latest version the software can no longer see my temp sensor that is plugged into my stellarmate pro and I cannot get any audio prompts from Kstars to function. It runs completely silent.
The audio issue is a big problem as there is no sound when a failure occurs.
Kstars also randomly fails and shuts down without warning, however I now have a script running in the background to send an audio warning if that happens.
Is there anything that I can do or can be done to get the audio issue resolved as I really don't want my rig driving itself into the pier when it fails to flip etc.
