Hmm, are you sure?  The following line should exist at line 995 in 
comets.dat:

This comet is the reason I am updating the file.

You could build an observing list containing comets, then these objects 
would be highlighted in the sky.  Not as dynamic or immediate as what 
you are describing.  You could file it as a wish at bugs.kde.org if you 
want.
