Much more usable here.  Roughly 8x faster:

kstars: SkyMapComposite::update() took 430 ms
kstars: SkyMapComposite::updatePlanets() took 119 ms
kstars: SkyMapComposite::updateMoons() took 40 ms
kstars: SkyMapComposite::update() for Alt/Az took 117 ms
kstars: X: Full update took 709 ms
kstars: Skymap draw took 1165 ms

If I try to adjust things in the "Configure KStars" menus, it often
hangs, consuming 100% CPU and needs to be killed.
