Perhaps the thing to do is have "hidden" names.  For example, names
that start with a special character (that is not used in any valid name) 
won't get displayed as names.  I guess one choice might be to have names 
that start with "." be hidden.

I think this would be pretty easy to implement.  In fact, I think
I will just do it, if you don't mind.  I think ".a", ".b", ".c",
would be clear.  But since they will be hidden, it won't really
matter what names are used after the dot.

For the Windows folks, we could have hidden star names start with 
$sys$.  :)

The hidden names make debugging constellations trickier, but this
is not a real problem because they can be unhidden (with a "!" instead
of a ".", for example) while developing and then made hidden with a
global search and replace.  If needed we could add a menu option to
"show hidden star names" but I'd like to avoid that if possible because
it will cause needless confusion.
