How to achieve a higher sample rate

I'm wondering how I can get a higher sampling rate through to KST. What's
the fastest that anyone has achieved and how did you accomplish it? Was it
close to 10 s/S or is KST capable of rates around 100 Ks/S?

Also can anyone help point me in the right direction for learning about
dirfiles? I haven't found much information online. I'm interested in some
sample code written in C. Or maybe a downloadable dirfile to look through
and plot in KST.
