Hi Steve,
I'm not sure I understand your question, but I'll try answering it nonetheless...
Normally the fit will cover the initial data range, regardless of what you've zoomed into.
In your picture, if you want to determine the y value of a visible point, maybe you could turn on the "Highlight Data Points" option in the toolbar.
If you don't have enough data in the original curve, you can also create a new X vector covering the interesting range using the "Create Vector" menu and then use the fit parameters to generate an equation over this whole range.
