I think it happens while compiling. At least in Creator I only choose "Compile All".
And when I launch make from the build directory it stops and asks me for the root password at some point (forgot to check where and now it's gone...)

If I type in the root password while building, it finishes. And then I can install using sudo. I am not sure that's an acceptable option for all packagers, though. Feedback would be appreciated there!

Other than that, I've played a bit with it and I think it has a lot of promise. Maybe it needs a consistency review, but above all hopefully we can get it to work under Windows too. However for what I wanted to do, I'd need plugins and histograms, which are not implemented yet => no go! Too bad... I don't know how much effort it would be to add those, but I sure hope it's on the roadmap.
