Could you attach a small test case? I have just tried it here, and it seems to
work. 
However, as far as I know, the point density option is not honored when lines
are not shown (i.e. all points are plotted if you don't plot lines, regardless
of what the greyed-out point density combobox indicates). This is a feature, as
plotting only some points does not make real sense if there is no line going
through all points.
