Maybe that wasn't an issue. I removed the directory and did a not-merged build, and it worked.
So now I can tell you what the remaining problems are:
1) kst-level strings and scalars (created from Create->Scalar or Create->String and then "Generate") are not shown until you close the dialog and open it again as if an update() was missing somewhere, and then only the name is shown and not the value
2) datasource-level strings and scalars are not shown at all. They used to be...

Apart from that it's looking good now. What's there is where it's supposed to be :-)

P.S.: I'm having a hard time reproducing the crash I had with the change data file tool. There are problems, but I haven't completely identified them yet. Still working on it, but now I need to get some sleep!
