After installing ubuntu 8.04 and kst, I'm unable to repdroduce the problem.

Installing kdiff3 does produce the warning messages given in the bug report,
when I subsequently run kst, but kst does not crash.

It might be worth doing a clean rebuild, including removing all kst binaries
from previous builds.
