Summary: Better "Change Data Sample Ranges" defaults
           Product: kst
           Version: 1.5.0
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kst kde org
        ReportedBy: dwiebe physics utoronto ca

Version: 1.5.0 (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 4.1.2
OS: Linux

Recently I've been working with two copies of the same data with different data rates and start times. I've been trying to compare the two in the same plot and have found working with the "Change Data Sample Ranges" very difficult to deal with in this case.

The problem is the default Start, Range and Skip values in the dialogue are the current value of only one of the datasets (call it "A"), and it's impossible, using that dialogue box to figure out what the current values for the other dataset (call it "B") is.

Accordingly, when I happen to need to tweak the data range of "B", to get it to align with what I've already selected from "A", what I have to do is, open the Edit Vector dialogue of one of the vectors derived from "B" in order to get it's current data range, copy these values into the "Change Data Sample Ranges" dialogue, and then tweak the range for the vectors from "B".

It would be nice if something like the following was implemented instead:

1) The "Change Data Sample Ranges" dialogue remembers whether the user has changed any of its "Data Range" widgets.

2) If the user hasn't made any changes, the state of the "Data Range" widgets are updated to reflect the current values of the selected vector in the "Vectors to change" list, whenever the user changes the selected vector.
