[Kst] Changes for inclusion in 1.4

HI,

I've attached a new version of the datamanager GUI revision.  It restores the 
top-level menu entries and cleans up the translatable strings.  Should this 
go in for 1.4?  I'd also like to know the status of the searchable readonly 
comboboxes?  Barth, what do you think of including these?
