Agreed - though I think calling this a feature is bit of a stretch.

Clearly we shouldn't be changing the font size (as given in the plot dialog) from
the default value. The "true" font size should be selected based on the size of the plot and, possibly, the size of the window.

I don't see a problem with the legend. If the user (emphasis on user) selects a font size so large that the legend won't fit in the plot then it will spill outside.
