One possiblity would be to add an additional column to the list control which would be titled Checked. The entries for this column would read Yes or No (or possibly blank). This would allow the user to sort based on this column - allowing the user to quickly determine which fields have been included for plotting.

If that sounds acceptable I'll go ahead and implement it.
