SVN commit 467848 by staikos:

Break plot labels even more, but again, only temporarily.  This removes all
cases of KstLabel in the tree!!  It also moves QFontMetrics calls out of the
inner loops and the drawing/painting areas in hopes of avoiding the freezes
we sometimes experience.  I'm still investigating that.
