I have just tried to reproduce this (with svn trunk), and confirm
exactly what you (Andrew) are seeing.  This is FC-4 on i386 fully
updated and running in a fully kde (no gnome) environment:

[matt cherry ~]$ kst --version
Qt: 3.3.4
KDE: 3.4.2-0.fc4.1 Red Hat
Kst: 1.2.0_svn_482480
